Farewell to “Tonino” Morelli, the gentle voice of the pharmaceutical industry

Farewell to “Tonino” Morelli, the gentle voice of the pharmaceutical industry

Antonio Morelli

“Hi Tonino, I need your help”. You could ask for numbers, graphs, tables, an official statement or even just have him explain some complicated mechanism in the world of medicine, which has always been characterised by a barrage of national and European rules, regulations and laws, and he would always reply: “Of course I’ll find out straight away and call you back very soon”. Antonio Morelli , head of the press office at Farmindustria, was the best possible colleague: always kind, helpful, thoughtful and ready to thank you when at the end of a tiring day chasing a piece of news or interpreting a piece of data you managed to do a job well. In so many years of work, never a “bad” phone call, even when what was written was not really appreciated. This is why the passing of “Tonino” as his friends and many colleagues, including those at Farmindustria, called him is truly a tragedy, as they remember him as an “exceptional person, an exemplary professional”: Morelli passed away following a serious illness that took him away in the space of a few months. An immense pain especially for his large and splendid family: wife, 9 extraordinary children and many grandchildren.

“Farmindustria communicates with deep sorrow and condolences - warns a note from the Association of the pharmaceutical industry - the passing of its Press Office Chief, Antonio Morelli, who faced and fought with extraordinary courage and faith a serious illness that struck him a few months ago. A generous journalist with a human touch that was always open and smiling, who was able to build with great professionalism and generosity in his 26 years in the Association a loyal and respectful relationship between the pharmaceutical sector and the media. His human qualities and his professional skills were recognized and appreciated not only by the Associates, but also by his journalist colleagues, to whom he was linked by sincere affection. Everyone will remember him at work until the end. And he will be greatly missed both by his colleagues at Farmindustria and by his journalist colleagues. Our thoughts, our closeness, our gratitude and the deepest affection go to his family in this moment of great pain”.
